Refined Retro

Refined Retro is a six piece collection featuring five prints that are aimed at younger mothers ages 25-40 years old. The inspiration was the late 1960s and early 1970s, but with a modern element of silhouettes and colors.  My inspiration came from various pieces of artwork that were created in this time frame, that had geometric elements and fun colors. My focal print consists of all six colors in each of the three color ways, and contains elements that can be seen in all four of the coordinating prints as well. My concept for the garment line was to create six ensembles, with a swimsuit and a corresponding beach wear garment that could be used as a cover up and/or a night out and about while on vacation. I wanted looks and prints that would be flattering as well as comfortable to a younger mother; something that would make her feel trendy and unique without feeling like a teenager. Complementing silhouettes and proportioned prints and color blocks help to pull this line together.

Simplistic Geometry

Simplistic Geometry is a print collection designed for women ages 25-35 for the ready to wear market. Express was a target retailer that was chosen, and their current prints and trends helped to inspire my own work. This collection features fun, while mature, color palettes with geometric influences that create bold and professional patterns that can easily be worn in the workplace as well as social outings and leisure activities as well. These prints will allow the customer to feel stylish, chic, and able to make a statement wherever she goes, all without breaking the bank. The print collection is shown in three different color ways that were inspired by the forecasted colors for this specific season of Fall 2017. The focal print is the main design in the collection, and the design from which all 4 coordinate prints are based. The four coordinate prints have elements that are pulled from the focal design and simplified into an elegant while whimsical print.
